Update: Belgium’s diamond export and import – June 2011

People love Belgian diamonds! According the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, the export of polished diamonds in Belgium rose 38 percent year on year. The export grew to $1.5 billion in June. What does this mean? The export grew 22 percent by volume and the average price of the polished diamonds increased by 14 percent. The net polished diamond exports increased in total by 9 percent.

Rough diamond import

Net rough diamonds import (excess of imports over exports) rose but a deficit of $196.2 million is remaining.

In total the Belgium net diamond account in June fell 34 percent to $227.5 million.

The first half of 2011
