The Antwerp Diamond Museum

Antwerp is the Diamond center of the world! No surprise that it also has a museum that’s focused on diamonds. The museum is called “DIVA, Antwerp Home of Diamonds”. The museum will give you the opportunity to learn everything about the magic stones. Look, feel, listen, … experience the whole diamond history with your own eyes. You can discover diamond shapes and diamond colours that you’ve never seen before. Moreover, Antwerp is an amazing city with lots of other touristic attractions that you can combine with a visit to DIVA.

DIVA, Antwerp Home of Diamonds

To enter DIVA is to enter the enchanting world of diamonds, silver, and silversmithing. On the symbolic location which has been home to silversmiths, jewellers and diamond dealers since the sixteenth century, you experience the international diamond story of the past, today and tomorrow.

Pioneering craftsmanship and creativity come into their own. DIVA sets great store by both high-tech expertise and innovative regional talent. DIVA is also the reference point for diamonds, jewellery, and silversmithing. It is a vibrant, interactive knowledge center where the creative industry finds the inspiration that will ensure that Antwerp retains its prominent position on the world map.

The Suikerrui and Kaasstraat are easily accessible by bicycle. For the time being, you can leave your bicycle in one of the bicycle racks on the Suikerui.

By train, tram or bus

The Suikerrui is close to the Grote Markt and Groenplaats. It is easy to reach by tram or bus. See www.delijn.be for the most up-to-date information.

The rail network is well connected with bus and tram routes. If you are coming to DIVA from the Ghent direction, take the train to Antwerpen-Zuid (Antwerp South) station. From other directions, you would do best to get off at Antwerpen-Centraal (Central Station).

  • From Antwerpen-Centraal station: take tram 3, 5, 9 or 15 to the Groenplaats
  • From Antwerpen-Zuid station: take tram 4 or bus 181 or 183 to the Groenplaats
  • From the Groenplaats walk towards the Cathedral of Our Lady and from there to the Grote Markt. Continue towards the Steen (castle). You’ll find DIVA on the right-hand side.

By car

You can leave your car in either the Grote Markt or Groenplaats car park. Or you might find a free parking space on the quayside. For other places to park, click on Parkeren in Antwerpen.

Accessibility

DIVA is a welcoming and inclusive museum. It is accessible for babies and small children and it’s wheelchair friendly. For the hearing-impaired visitors, there are informative texts displayed on screens in all the museum galleries. The carer of a visually-impaired visitor is eligible for free entry to the museum, though he/she does need to obtain a (free) entrance ticket. Guide dogs are of course also allowed in the galleries.
